Pi Day Scholarship Fundraiser

11am – 4pm, Sunday, March 14th, 2021

Okanagan Science Centre, 2704 Hwy 6

For many years, Vernon’s Silver Star Rotary Club has awarded annual scholarships to graduating high school students, to support their higher learning.  Funds are held & managed by the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan; each year, interest earned from our fund is offered to a selected student from each of our local high schools.  They can collect their scholarship by showing proof of registration in their chosen college, university or trade school.

We hope the Pi Day Fundraiser will be a tasty way for people to help add to our scholarship fund !

From your high school math, you’ll recall the value of Pi  TT is 3.14 … explaining why the 14th day of the 3rd month, ie. Sunday, March 14th, 2021, will be Pi Day !

There are five ways SSR members can participate in Pi Day:

  1. At home, bake your own 8.5” or 9” diameter apple pies with “Pi,” or the math symbol TT on them, and deliver them to the Okanagan Science Centre on Sun, March 14th by 11am.
  2. Be at the Science Centre, with your mask, to give out pies and the kits for a 2 hour shift between 11am & 4pm on Sun March 14th.
  3. Sell pies to your friends, family and neighbours, by collecting orders & cash yourself, or directing them to the website at  https://okscience.ca/collections/gift-shop-featured/products/pie-for-pi-day-fundraiser
  4. Buy pies from an authorized local business at a discount and deliver them to the Science Centre on Sun, March 14th by 11am.  Sweet Caroline’s Bakery will do them for $10.75 a pi  (250-545-0300, 3115 48th Ave).
  5. Store a few pies, made or bought by others, & deliver them to the Science Centre by 11am, Sun, March 14th.
